The Philips Spectrum gives me a frequency spectrum for my ocean water. The Spectrum as parameters takes wind directions, speed, and gravity.
In order to quickly compute a height map from the Philips Spectrum I perform a IFFT on the GPU. To do This I do a N-Point IFFT using a per computed butterfly texture to tell the GPU what step it should be doing. I used the process described at this link(https://d-nb.info/1143691342/34)
To display this height map I use create a few tilling quads in order to have a high level of detail close where you can see it while saving on level of detail with further spot where you can't see the detail.
